Shark on the chest : Maori tattoo

Maori or Polynesian tattoos are often shown as ranging from lower arms to full sleeves or even body suits. For instance a bracelet with patterns that are important for them, symbolising a strong family bond or strength. In this case we have an animal that our customer liked, that we designed to have Polynesian patterns inside that form the silhouette of the shark in a way that you can instantly tell what it is, but also keeping the style of the tattoo direction he liked. This one is professionally handcrafted, and our tattoo-artist Neumie even used a pattern to symbolise the teeth in the shark.

However, what you see today isn’t always a precise representation of the past. A lot of the patterns used today are for aesthetic reasons." The Patterns on this arm are blocked in 3 big rectangles. These rectangles get cut into much smaller ones and filled with geometric patterns that are also often used in Polynesian Tattoos. On the Back of the arm three different but similar patterns form a stripe that runs down the whole piece, which lets everything band together even nicer.
